What's New

Not a whole lot is new with us. I haven't been posting very much because there hasn't been too much to write about.

We have both been working a lot and it's hot. I suppose many of you could say the same thing.

Yesterday I was driving the tram back and forth from the campground to Carowinds and chatting with a passenger. I told him that my husband and I were full time RVers and he said "Oh, are you retired military or something?" My reply: "Nope, just idiots with a dream."

We are coming up on one year since our adventure started. The time has gone very quickly.

We've learned a great deal about ourselves, each other, and this lifestyle. All have been good lessons, some just went down a little easier than others.

Other things we've learned:

  • We need to be patient and wait for the opportunities and jobs that seem right for us rather than simply taking the first thing that comes along.
  • After our three months at the Statesville KOA where we just did the guardhouse in the mornings, we've realized we each need more stimulation and interaction with others and we need to earn a paycheck each month, not just working for our site.
  • Good wifi is more important than cable.
I'll add to this list as I think of things. :)

Happy Saturday!

Dooley does not look impressed. I think he's jealous of Snoopy's green shirt.

Cautiously Optimistic

I'm not sure I should mention this because I don't want to jinx anything...but it looks like the wifi is working on all our devices and working well.

How long will it last....

After weeks of unreliable wifi and only being able to get online with part of our devices, we are online and surfing the internet.

So...what do we do when we finally have strong enough wifi to stream videos?

We're watching Wanda Sykes.

Yes, of all the things on the World Wide Web we're chose Wanda Sykes.

Actually, she's pretty funny. Who knows what we'll watch next.

Learning To Speak Southern

I'm easily influenced by other voices, literally and figuratively. Yesterday I caught myself saying to a group of campers "Have y'all been to the park yet?"

Recently I was chatting with a co-worker, a lovely retired man from Georgia who speaks with a slow southern drawl. We were discussing some of our less fortunate neighbors and he favored me with a couple phrases that I hadn't heard before.

First, there was "Their driveway don't go all the way to the street" but my favorite was "Yeah, there's no lifeguard in that gene pool."

Feel free to use either of those phrases when necessary.
